Evaluations are to select the 2011 summer teams.
Players should attend the evaluation for their own age group. If a player wants to be considered for an older age group, they need to attend that evaluation as well and place in the top percentage of that age group.
1. 2010 Fall teams are formed from summer rosters.
Hopkins Dynamo Fall soccer: 2010 Fall teams may have different rosters than the 2011 summer teams. The top team at any age group is strongly encouraged to play fall soccer. Fall teams will be formed from the 2010 summer teams depending upon the number of players available for the fall season. This may result in combined age groups for fall teams. We make every effort to place players on teams, but it does depend upon how many players are in the age group. There is a chance we may not be able to place every player on a team.
2. How are the evaluations dates selected?
MYSA regulations state that clubs are not able to have tryouts for the next season soccer teams until the current year state tournament is completed. The first available date for evaluations is August 1. MYSA deadline to submit fall soccer teams is August 9. This presents a challenge for scheduling since we only have a one week window. Summer is a busy time and we recognize that many families take August vacations and August is a popular time for summer camps, but Hopkins Dynamo simply does not have an option for other evaluations dates.
3. What should we do if our player cannot attend evaluations?
If a player is not able to attend tryouts and wants to be considered for a position on a 2010 fall and 2011 summer team, you need to do the following.
1. We need an e-mail from the parent or guardian of the player with the player’s name and age group. E-mail:
a. You will receive a confirmation email that we have added your player’s name to the age group pool
2. If a player wants to be considered for the top team at their age group, we need to know. They will be invited to a team practice in early August to fill any roster openings.
3. If your player wants to play 2010 fall soccer, we need a check for $100 payable to Hopkins Dynamo Soccer Club mailed to PO Box 5587, Hopkins MN 55343. We need to receive the check before August 1. If your player was on a 2010 summer team, we do not need a registration form for fall soccer.
4. What is considered when players are placed on teams?
1. Evaluation timed drills testing speed and ball skills
2. Evaluation awareness of the game and ability to play in a team setting.
3. Evaluation from prior season’s coach regarding ability, attitude and attendance.
5. How are we notified of team placement?
You will be notified by the email address that is listed on your 2010 summer registration form about team placement for 2011. Please let us know of any email address change when your player checks in at evaluations.
